REVEREND CARIETA CAIN GRIZZELL Pastor Carieta Cain Grizzell, born is Washington, D.C. received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Antioch University – Yellow Springs, Ohio and her Master of Divinity Degree at San Francisco Theological Seminary – San Anselmo, California. She is currently a Doctor of Ministry Candidate at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Rev. Grizzell is the great-great grand-daughter of the late Bishop Richard Harvey Cain, 14th Bishop of the AME Church who also served two terms as a U.S. Congressman during the Reconstruction period. Rev. Grizzell began her ministry at Ingleside Presbyterian Church, San Francisco where she was ordained as Parish Associate and organized the Ingleside Community Center where she developed a host of programs for at-risk youth and young adults. After receiving a vision from her great-great grandfather, Bishop Cain to “come back home”, she returned to the African Methodist Episcopal Church and served as Associate Minister of Bethel A,M.E. Church, San Francisco. During her tenure at Bethel, she served as Managing Director of Opportunities Unlimited of Allen Community Development Corporation and Site Manager of Young African American Achiever’s Program. Rev. Grizzell has traveled in the 5th Episcopal District in the AME Church serving as Pastor of Christ Our Redeemer in East Palo, Alto, California; St. Paul, Vallejo, California; Allen Chapel, Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 2009, Rev. Grizzell was appointed to the pastorate of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church, Wichita, Kansas . She presently serves as the Social Action Director of the Midwest Conference of the AME Church; the Treasurer of the W.G. Williams Foundation, and the Assistant Treasurer of the Wichita Ministerial League. She strongly believes that God can do anything but fail and has in her own life experienced the miraculous power of God through Jesus Christ. She is married to The Rev. Martin F. Grizzell and together they have seven children and thirteen grandchildren. |
